Is Play Therapy Effective?
Play therapy is evidenced-based, and it is effective in helping children with a variety of goals, emotional difficulties, and behaviors.
What is Behavioral Therapy?
Behavioral therapy is often the term used for therapy and counseling in general. Behavioralism was popular in 1920s through 1950s. While behavioralism is still an important framework in the history of psychology, it is often not the primary approach used by mental health therapists and counselors anymore. I think mental health therapy better describes what people are looking forward when they say “behavioral therapy.”
New Clients
Sometimes it can feel like a lot to start something new when you don’t know what to expect. Let me walk you through the process from start to finish.
Affirming Autism
You have started noticing your child is a little behind with some milestones. Maybe it is speech development. Maybe your child seems to struggle with playing with other children. Maybe you notice differences in the way your child experiences the world. Maybe your child holds their ears every time they hear something loud. Maybe they turn off the lights at home. Maybe they hate the tag on their clothes. Maybe they struggle with transitions - like really struggle.
Explaining Play Therapy
Parents often feel at a loss of how to explain who a counselor is. It is helpful to tell your child where they are coming to give them a chance to prepare their mind.
